Collection of Gorjup Gallery

The beginnings of exhibiting art in Kostanjevica na Krki goes back to 1956 when the Gorjup Gallery was founded in the local primary school at the initiative of the then headmaster Lado Smrekar. Since 1974 the Gorjup Gallery operates as part of Galerija Božidar Jakac. The permanent exhibition showcases a selection of sculptures, paintings, drawings and prints from an extensive international collection of the 20th century art. Its location in the premises of a school is an extraordinary feature of the permanent exhibition that offers the unusual possibility of a direct interweaving of gallery activities and educational work. The present exhibition has been on display since February 2020.
