Learning / Students
The rich history of the former monastery, the long-term renovation of the building complex that houses the Galerija Božidar Jakac today, and the intersection of curatorial and museum practices open up a number of starting points that, in cooperation with professors, can be intertwined with the learning processes of various secondary school programmes and university courses.
Our doors are open to students of art, human sciences and other fields of study who are interested in working in a museum and would like to do a compulsory internship or traineeship with us, as well as for questions in the preparation of research assignments that are related to the field of work of Galerija Božidar Jakac.
We organise in-depth guided tours for final year students in connection with the final year curriculum, exploring the works of Božidar Jakac, France Kralj, Tone Kralj and other artists, and learning about monastic architecture and history. The tour can be enriched by an analysis of an artwork (workshop What You See, What I See), where students work in groups or independently explore the formal and contextual qualities of a selected work.
In the workshops, they can try drypoint or other printmaking techniques, or think about heroes such as Marin Krpan and what is an attribute. In the Curators at Work workshop, they can step into the shoes of a curator and design an exhibition for a former monastery church.
Workshops:
– What You See, What I See (the France Kralj, Tone Kralj or Božidar Jakac collection)
– My Room or My Attribute (the Nande Vidmar and Tone Kralj collection)
– Curators at Work (learning about the concept of permanent and temporary exhibitions)
