Zoran Didek

ZORAN DIDEK (1910-1975, Ljubljana) studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He was an important art theorist, designer and teacher at secondary schools and later at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts. Along with self-portraits, portraits and still lifes, the landscape is a common theme of his works. In the pre-war period his landscapes were realistic, green and thus typical of ‘Dolenjska’ region, while later, in his analytical explorations, a move towards abstraction prevails. His drawings are also important, particularly his caricatured self-portraits. The permanent display of his works has been on display since 1995 and was redesigned in 2000 and 2012.
