Gao Meng was born in 1959 in the city of Hahhot in Inner Mongolia. He graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Beijing in 1982 and in 1999 received his master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in the city of Guangzhou, where he has been employed as an associate professor since 2001. In 2012, he finished PhD at the Department of Art History of the Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He lives and works in Beijing and Guangzhou, China, and regularly attends sculpture symposia across the world.
