Tone Demšar was born in 1946 in Ljubljana. In 1971, he graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana and completed his postgraduate studies in the class of professor Slavko Tihec and professor Drago Tršar. He worked as a professor of sculpture at the Faculty od Education in Ljubljana. He was a member of the Junij group, Slovene (neo)avant-garde group in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1979 he received Prešeren Foundation award. He died in 1997.
