Apolonija Simon: Unfinished Stories

Opening: 9 May 2025, 7pm

The exhibition of the painter Apolonia Simon: Unfinished Stories in the former monastery church will showcase her recent paintings. Simon is one of the most prominent and pervasive painters in the Slovenian cultural milieu, capable of making artworks of monumental proportions with highly topical subject matters. In keeping with the atmosphere of the space, the artist will also make a completely new large-scale painting, which she will place in this historical setting. In recent years Simon has worked on exceptionally complex large-scale paintings that depict a universal sense of destruction, whether the scenes of environmental cataclysms or genocidal pogroms by imperialist forces, over which an individual, despite his or her potential engagement, has no direct and notable impact.

Exhibition is on view untill 31 August. 2025.
