Nika Batista: I Live in Realities That Are Not Completely True

Exhibition opening: Friday, 10 April 2026, at 7pm

The Lapidarium will feature young artist Nika Batista, whose practice intertwines performance, design, and spatial installation. The exhibition stems from different perceptions of emotion and feelings and explores how emotional states materialise – in movement, objects, sound or light – and how the exhibition space can reinforce or transform them.

The installation is designed as a situation that actively involves the visitor: the works are not just for viewing, but trigger responses, create new associations, and build emotional connections. The artist’s approach is based on her sensitivity to materials and details and the need to create a holistic, physically experienced experience in the space. Since emotional experiences are often also physical, the artist will use textiles, a material that is physically and sometimes emotionally close to humans and carries memories and perceptions.

The exhibition will respond to the specifics of the lapidarium and, through the placement of the works, emphasize the dialogue between contemporary artistic gestures and the historical layers of the space.

Until 5 July 2026.

Curator: Deja Bečaj
