Intergenerational Workshop: Corn Husking as a Ritual with Artist Mateja Kavčič

Date: 11. 10. 2025
Time: 14:00

Corn husking has always been one of the most important autumn tasks, accompanied by songs, stories, and socializing. What happens when we gather again as a community and our hands begin to touch the husks and transform them into imaginary creatures? What happens when corn kernels slip through our fingers into mysterious patterns and momentarily connect to form a large, glowing yellow image on the floor? And what happens when corn husks turn into good spirits and we build a shelter out of corn stalks?
In the process of community creation, we will combine traditional knowledge with contemporary visual arts.
You can come anytime between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The longer you stay, the better!
This free workshop is suitable for all generations, and even the youngest are welcome.
Due to the need to prepare materials in advance, please register for the free workshop at dejavnosti@galerija-bj.si or by calling 07/49-88-140.
The workshop is supported by MZK.
