ALLJA PETRIC: Landscapes of Prekmurje

At a concert in the courtyard of Galerija Božidar Jakac, musician, instrumentalist and vocalist Allja Petric, together with her band, will present a rich repertoire from the musical project Landscapes of Prekmurje, which merges the sounds of the Pannonian landscape, folk traditions and contemporary musical elements.

Together with her accompanying musical ensemble, comprising the experienced musical virtuosos Rok Zalokar and Kristijan Krajnčan, Allja Petric will showcase the “sound of the landscape”, where the diverse sounds of nature, the dialectal poetry and prose of Prekmurje’s literary authors, and the artist’s own inner experiences of the landscape in which she grew up all meet and intertwine. The Landscapes of Prekmurje project is an archival record of the sounds of the landscape, which changes from day to day, consequently losing some sounds whilst creating new ones. A group of diverse and versatile musicians will thus conjure up the sound of the landscape, as well as that of its inhabitants, who, through historical specifics, have shaped and preserved their distinctive identity in Prekmurje. In doing so, they carefully and sensitively peel back the many layers and characteristics of the Pannonian countryside, which tells its story through small, almost imperceptible tales.
