(Re)sustainability in the gallery<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

The project brings sustainable practices to reduce the carbon footprint of cultural institutions. The introduction of energy-efficient technologies such as LED lighting and humidity and temperature monitors, together with the promotion of sustainable mobility and awareness-raising, will serve as a model for the sustainable management of cultural spaces. Replacing traditional lighting with LED lighting will reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, resulting in financial savings and sustainable operations. Humidity and temperature monitors will allow optimum climate control, reduce energy consumption and protect the artworks. Promotional activities will encourage sustainable mobility, which will help to raise awareness. Workshops and round tables will increase the capacity of staff and the general public to implement green practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is co-funded by the Ministry of Culture under the Climate Change Fund.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cisterscapes<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

The GBJ and the Museum of Christianity in Slovenia (MKS) from Stika met in 2019, with the financial support of MK, included in the three-year international project of connecting and preserving the cultural landscape and heritage of the Cistercians in Europe Cisterscapes – Cistercian landscapes connect Europe. The project involves a network of nineteen participating institutions in working or former Cistercian monasteries from six European countries: Germany, France, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of the project was the joint candidacy of all participating partners for the European Heritage Label in 2023 and the popularization of knowledge about the cultural landscape of the Cistercians through a common database and website as well as an application for a transnational hiking trail. Participation in the project for both Slovenian locations, the former Marijin studenec monastery in Kostanjevica na Krka, in which the GBJ is located, and the still functioning monastery in Sti\u010dna, in which the MKS operates, means an opportunity to raise visibility at the European level, to enrich knowledge about influence and connection of the two Cistercians into the European network in the past and the reconnection of the two institutions in the future together with the development of new museological and tourist programs in both locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, the Cisteescapes network obtained the European Cultural Heritage Label from the European Commission.

Erasmus+
accreditation<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

Erasmus accreditation is a tool intended for organizations active in the field of vocational education and training, general school education and adult education who want to network internationally and cooperate with similar institutions in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Erasmus+ accreditation, it confirms that the gallery has a long-term plan to implement mobility as part of the development of its organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GBJ is an accredited organization for the implementation of Erasmus+ international mobility for the period from 1 March 2021 to 31 December 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main objectives of accreditation are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increasing the interest of young adults in fine arts and criticism, upgrading the programs of intergenerational workshops (family, etc.) by viewing good practices in comparable institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To improve the involvement of adults (especially the elderly) in activities to raise the key competence of cultural awareness and expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transfer of good practices in the education of adult museum visitors in the field of sustainability and the introduction of sustainable operating principles to other areas of museum work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implementation of the new mindfulness program in the gallery – well-being and relaxation with natural and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Improve artistic heritage interpretation programs and the involvement of people with fewer opportunities (socially weak, less educated, disabled, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castles of Posavija<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

United in a project under the regional name Castles of Posavje, we are following the outlined project, which includes programming and promotional-marketing integration of castles (Podsreda, Sevnica, Rajhenburg, Bre\u017eice, Mokrice) and the former monastery Kostanjevica na Krka in Posavje, establishing a new brand with the aim of joint promotion of public and market services and is committed to finding ways for cooperation and integration outside of Posavije as well. The goal of the project is to use an innovative approach to raise the visibility and added value of the network of castles, as well as all existing and developing activities in the region, and thereby achieve the greatest possible opening to the wider Slovenian and international space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Castles of Posavja project is the recipient of the Jakob Award 2020, which is awarded by the Economic Exhibition Center for innovation, quality and excellence in tourism as part of the Alpe-Adria fair.

New age: Steps towards a sustainable art museum visit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

We applied the New age project to the Erasmus+ program with the aim of improving the experience and skills of employees at the Bo\u017eidar Jakac Gallery. Since the user experience of museum visitors is extremely important and since one of our fundamental missions is informal education, in our opinion it is important to additionally engage visitors in the direction of sustainable principles and environmental protection content within the framework of these activities. The experiences of related museums from the international space in many ways help to prepare a strategy for implementing sustainable and natural principles of museum use, as well as the design and implementation of modern and current programs that actively connect art and nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EUROPE BEFORE EUROPE: education about common heritage<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

At the Bo\u017eidar Jakac Gallery, since its founding in 1974, we have been trying to bring cultural creativity and heritage to the widest possible circle of people through a series of different programs. We recognize specific needs in the field of preparing non-formal education programs for adults, which we prepare for exhibitions, and we notice the lack of competence of gallery educational staff (curators, museum guides) in the area of \u200b\u200bcommunicating ideas and transferring knowledge at all levels, both between educational staff and between educational staff and learners adults. Therefore, with the project we address learning and getting to know good practices through monitoring at the workplace, transfer of experience, acquisition of new knowledge and implementation of new methods, approaches and tools in the preparation and implementation of educational informal educational programs for adults in the Bo\u017eidar Jakac Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goals of the project are the development of competences for the preparation of new non-formal education programs for learning adults on the subject of the European heritage of Cistercian cultural landscapes and the artist Anthonis Van Dyck, as well as the strengthening of international European connections with museum and cultural institutions, as well as the exchange of knowledge and good practices in the field of adult visitor education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Re\/Forma Viva<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the fall of 2019, GBJ, as a leading partner, started implementing the two-year project Re\/Forma viva, which is financed within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. Together with partner institutions (ALUO and NTF from Ljubljana, ALU Zagreb and Tallinn Academy of Arts, Estonia), we approached the project in an interdisciplinary manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By integrating new technologies (3D photo scanning and modeling) in the field of cultural heritage documentation into the educational processes of study programs, we will jointly develop support for classical museum documentation. The work will take place on the example of sculptures in the Forma viva park Kostanjevica on Krka, and the experience and results will be shared both among higher education institutions and related sculpture parks in Europe.
