Alexander Ilečko was born in 1937 in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 1961 he graduated at Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, studying painting and sculpture. In 1967 he received Herder Award for one-year study in Vienna. He predominantly works with wood and clay but he is also engaged as a printmaker.
