Intergenerational Workshop: Gold in Calligraphy
Saturday, September 3, 2026, 3:00–5:00 p.m.

In this calligraphy workshop, we will explore Proto-Gothic script, medieval handwriting, and the world of richly illuminated manuscripts. We’ll also look a bit further ahead—to the Baroque period, a time when the color gold became an important part of artistic expression. Each participant will write their initial in proto-Gothic script and then decorate it with gold paint, drawing inspiration from medieval manuscripts and Baroque splendor.

We invite everyone (ages 10 and up) who enjoys writing, socializing while writing, and learning something new to join the workshop.

The workshop will be led by Dijana Costa (Museum of Christianity in Slovenia) as part of the activities marking the award of the European Heritage Label and the European Heritage Days campaign.

The workshop will be followed by a lecture by Blaženka Firšt, “From the First Prints to the Modern Era: The Development of Printmaking in Slovenia.” You are cordially invited!
