FRANCE KRALJ (Zagorica pri Dobrepolju, 1895 – Ljubljana, 1960), painter, graphic artist and sculptor. The leading representative of Slovene expressionism and later of New Objectivity. Studied sculpture and painting at the academies in Vienna and Prague. For several years he taught at the Secondary Technical College in Ljubljana and was active within the context of various art societies. In 1933 he published an autobiography Moja pot (My Journey). The permanent exhibition includes 235 of his paintings, drawings, graphics and sculptures. The dominant motifs are rural life, animals, landscapes, religious scenes, nudes and portraits. The exhibition has been on view since 1983 and was redesigned in 2002.
