2011 - A LOOK 6 SLOVENIA / I, Here, Now

In its ten years, the biennial A Look at Visual Arts of Dolenjska, Bela Krajina and Posavje Regions has outgrown its boundaries, and is now spreading to the entire territory of Slovenia. It is based on the foundation of the original bieannial exhibition, but with an important difference – the participation of individual curators from most major regional Slovene galleries which regulary follow the current events in the field of visual arts in their region.
A chosen curator of each gallery has the task to select two works, created respectively by two artists who live and work in, or come from, the area the gallery covers. At the exhibition itself the participating curators select one work. The author of the work which convinces the majority of curators is awarded with an independent exhibition which takes place the following year in Lamut’s Salon of Fine Arts at the Božidar jakac Art Museum, with the possibility of guest exhibition at galleries participating in the biennial exhibition.
The biennial A Look at Visual Arts exhibition is of crucial importance, for it provides the most authentic insight into the current events in the art arena of entire Slovenia.
The topic of this year’s exhibition is defined by its title „I, Here, Now“, and it is connected to the artist’s actual intimate experiences of themselves and the environment they live in.
